The norwegian band Casiokids is not just an electronic act, but also include a shadow puppet group. The instrumentation includes cassette-recorder, cello, melodica, guitar, congas and of course lots of electronic quarks,quirks & whatæs.

 

Casiokids has in no time become one of the most exciting electronic acts in Norway. The band has been very well received in Europe and in the USA. Over the last couple of years they have been an extremely busy touring act and have played big festivals all over.

 

The music ranges from childish naivism to dark, harder grooves, but addictive melodies also play an important role in this melting pot of improvisation and absurdness. The samples used are taken from norwegian radio shows for children, cassette-books about Africa, and interviews (done by the band) of young communist activists. The shadow puppet group Figuraturus tells the story of the starving tribe of african robots hunting for food.

 

Casiokids debut album Fuck Midi was released by Karisma Records in 2006. The band was recently signed to the label Moshi Moshi where more Casiokids recordings can be expected shortly.

CASIOKIDS SIGNS TO MOSHI MOSHI

After the release of their debut album, "Fuck Midi", on Karisma Records, Casiokids have gained more and more attention this year, playing the Roskilde Festival, Øya Festival and The Great Escape among others.
Now, they've signed to Moshi Moshi, and will release their first 7" for them, "Grønt lys i alle ledd/Togens hule", in the UK (Oct 27) and Norway (Nov 24). The debut album "Fuck Midi" is still available from Karisma Records.

Several of our bands are doing shows here and there in the months to come. More gigs will be announced shortly.Lonely Crowd will play a gig in at the TapTab in Schaffhausen, Switzerland on February 17th next year. Casiokids will play at Hulen in Bergen, Norway on January 25th, and several gigs during by:Larm 21th to 23rd of February.Syme will play at Checkpoint Charlie in Stavanger, Norway on January 5th. Vaiping will play at Soria Moria and Mono during by:Larm in Oslo, Norway on the 21st and 22nd of February. Gallery will play at Garage in Bergen, Norway on the 11th of January.Herr Nilsson will play at Folken in Stavanger, Norway on January 11th.
