LJUNGBLUT RELEASES NEW SINGLE AHEAD OF EXCLUSIVE DATES

With a critically acclaimed album ” Villa Carlotta 5959″ released in November of last year, and two exclusive shows coming up, Alternative Rockers LJUNGBLUT have released a brand new single on Karisma Records.

Titled “Et ørlite håp så stort” (A tiny hope so great), the song was  written by Sindre Pedersen and Kim Ljung after the release of  ” Villa Carlotta 5959″.It was mixed by Alex Møklebust (Seigmen, Zeromancer) who also contributed to the recording.

“Et ørlite håp så stort” , about which founder Kim Ljung had the following to say, shows a marked difference from the album, showcasing, as it does, more electronic elements:

Sindre (Pedersen, bass player) sent me the song. Usually when I receive ideas from the other members of the band, I take them apart, rearrange them and so on. This time I barely did anything. Everything was already in place, and to me the lyrics and melody came naturally, like it often does with good songs in my world. It feels like something that has been laying waiting for the barriers to break, finally allowing it all to flow free.

“Et ørlite håp så stort” can be streamed or downloaded from https://karismarecords.fanlink.to/Ljungblut_OrliteHaap

LJUNGBLUT  will play two special intimate shows in front of seated audiences in Norway this month.  The first will take place on Friday 26th April at the Kulturhuset Ælvespeilet in Porsgrunn, followed the next day by a show at the Lille Ole Bull Scene in Bergen.  Full details can be found on the following Facebook events:

Porsgunn:  https://www.facebook.com/events/538220493355063/
Bergen: https://www.facebook.com/events/2307721335926799/

Formed in 2005 by Kim Ljung, LJUNGBLUT is  a vehicle for the material Ljung didn’t think was right for either SEIGMEN or ZEROMANCER, for whom he is the bassist and main songwriter.  Three solo albums later, LJUNGBLUT evolved further with the addition of full-time members, some of whom had collaborated on LJUNGBLUT’s  first two albums.

Joining Ljung (keys and vocals) are Dan Heide (ZEROMANCER, RED7) on guitars, Ted Skogmann (APOPTYGMA BERZERK) on drums , Joakim Brendsrød on keys and Sindre Pedersen on bass, and, as a quintet, the band released two independent albums with Norwegian lyrics. “Villa Carlotta 5959”, is  LJUNGBLUT’s sixth full-length album, and the last in the trilogy of Norwegian language albums, exploring  matters both historical and personal.

ALBUM DETAILS AND NEW SINGLE FROM PROG ROCKERS JORDSJØ REVEALED

Jordsjø - Nattfiolen

Norwegian Prog Rockers  JORDSJØ are back with “Nattfiolen”, an album filled with acoustic guitars, flutes, tape echo, analogue synths and Hammond organ.  Warm and dreamy, “Nattfiolen” reflects the band’s longing for a simpler life close to nature, and an imaginary past where life is centered around music.

And today Karisma Records have released a single from the album that perfectly illustrates the folk-inspired Symphonic Prog, one could almost say Forest Prog, that typifies  JORDSJØ’s musical output.   The single, for the track “Stifinner” can be streamed or downloaded at  https://orcd.co/stifinner

Led by multi-instrumentalist Håkon Oftung (ex-Tusmørke), JORDSJØ was formed in Oslo in 2014, and is a band that draws its inspiration from old horror movies, German 70s Synth music, Swedish Prog, fantasy novels and Norwegian nature.  So much so, in fact, that when, just over a year ago, JORDSJØ first spoke about “Nattfiolen”, they referred to it as “a kind of Intermezzo that will explore more deeply the mysticism that surrounds the forest”.

“Nattfiolen” is the follow-up to 2018’s critically acclaimed debut “Jord”.   Recorded and mixed in JORDSJØ’s  own studio, “Nattfiolen” is mastered by Jacob Holm-Lupo (White Willow, The Opium Cartel, etc.) at the Dude Ranch Studio.

With cover art by Sindre Foss Skancke and band photos by Anne-Marie Forker, track listing for “Nattfiolen” is as follows:

01. Ouverture
02. Stifinner
03. Solens Sirkulære Sang
04. Septemberbål
05. Mine Templer II
06. Til Våren
07. Ulvenatt

Set for release on the 24th May in CD and digital formats, “Nattfiolen” is now available to pre-order from the following: https://www.karismarecords.no/artists/jordsjo/

KARISMA RECORDS ANNOUNCE SECOND RELEASE FROM BACK CATALOGUE OF PROG LEGENDS RUPHUS

Having announced that they will release the entire back catalogue of the ’70’s Norwegian Prog legends RUPHUS, and hot on the heels of the release of the first album “New Born Day”, Karisma Records are ready to reveal the details of “Ranshart”, the second of what will be a total of six releases.

A versatile and ground-breaking band, RUPHUS, with their long, melodic, compositions and multiple, intertwined themes, were regarded as being the Norwegian equivalent of YES, not just in style, but also in skill.

Starting out playing hard progressive rock, RUPHUS adopted a revolving door policy as regards their lineup, and as members left and others joined, the sound changed accordingly, sending RUPHUS in a direction that would eventually make them leaders in the field of Jazz Rock. Only Kjell Larsen (guitar) and Asle Nilsen (bass, flute) would go on to play on all of RUPHUS’ albums.

By  the time RUPHUS’  sophomore album “Ranshart” was released in 1974, the original seven-man lineup had become five. with  three of the seven original members having left the band, including the two vocalists, who were replaced by Rune Østdahl.

As with all the re-issues in the series, “Ranshart”, which was originally recorded at the Roger Arnhoff studios in October 1974, has been re-mastered by Jacob Holm-Lupo (White Willow, The Opium Cartel, etc) using digital transfers from the original master tapes which are stored in the Norwegian National Archives for posterity.

With original artwork by Kathinka Rasch Andersen “Ranshart” will be available in CD, LP and limited Edition LP on yellow vinyl.  Tracklisting is as follows:

1.     Love is my Light
2.     Easy Lovers
3.     Fallen Wonders
4.     Pictures of a Day
5.     Back Side

Set for release on the 7th June, “Ranshart” is now available to pre-order in all formats from https://www.karismarecords.no/artists/ruphus/

More information about RUPHUS can be found on the band’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/thebandruphus/

KARISMA RECORDS RELEASES NEW TRACK FROM UPCOMING BJORN RIIS ALBUM

Bjørn Riis - A Storm Is Coming

With its May 3 release date a little under a month away, Karisma Records have released a second single from BJORN RIIS’ upcoming third full-length album “A Storm Is Coming”.

The single, titled “Stormwatch”, can be streamed or downloaded at the following: https://karismarecords.fanlink.to/BjornRiis_Stormwatch

According to Riis, “Stormwatch” did not start out as it ended up:

Stormwatch originated as a completely different song but after countless rewrites, it turned into a 15 minute piece that in many ways sums up the theme of the new album, “A Storm is Coming”. The lyrics are a dialogue between two individuals, describing the violent tension and frustration in a relationship. As the song progresses, the storm unfolds. I’m very proud of how it turned out. There are a lot of musical references throughout that are sort of a homage to my influences and it was great fun working with both Henrik Bergan Fossum (drums) and Mimi Tamba (vocals). They both delivered outstanding performances.

With “A Storm Is Coming”, Riis, also known for his work as the co-founder, songwriter and lead guitarist of Norwegian Prog Rockers AIRBAG, has managed to combine the art of rock, prog and atmospheric pop,  to produce a prog rock album laden with atmosphere, and which is both heavier, but at the same time more tender, than his previous releases.

With its themes of human relationships and loss, “A Storm Is Coming” is written as a dialogue between two people. Formed of six epic songs and clocking in at 51 minutes, the album was recorded at the Subsonic Society in Oslo, mixed by long-time collaborator Vegard Kleftås Sleipnes, and mastered by Jacob Holm-Lupo (WHITE WILLOW, THE OPIUM CARTEL).

In addition to Bjørn Riis on vocals, guitars and a wide variety of instruments, the album features performances by Henrik Bergan Fossum (AIRBAG) on drums, Simen Valldal Johannessen (OAK) on keys, Ole Michael Bjørndal on guitar, Kristian Hultgren (WOBBLER) on bass, and Mimmi Tamba on guest vocals.

With artwork by Asle Tostrup,  tracklisting on “A Storm is Coming” is as follows:

1 When Rain Falls
2. Icarus
3. You And Me
4. Stormwatch
5. This House
6. Epilogue

Bjørn Riis

“A Storm is Coming” will be available in Digisleeve CD, Digital, and two different vinyl formats, which include a limited edition, one-time-only pressing on marble vinyl with an alternative portrait album cover, as well as a standard black vinyl version.  All formats are now available to pre-order from the following:

In September he is also set to appear at the 2 Days Prog + 1 Festival in Veruno, Italy.
