Bjørn Riis

Bjørn Riis

Bjørn Riis is one of the founding members, the lead guitarist, producer and main songwriter of the highly successful Norwegian band Airbag. The band’s four critically acclaimed albums has gained Airbag a strong following around the globe.

Together with Airbag and as a solo artist, Bjørn has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the prog genre, including Marillion, Yes, Saga, Marillion and Neil Morse and he’s played at several festivals, including Night of the Prog and Cruise to the Edge.

Bjørn has released four praised and awared solo albums – Lullabies in a Car Crash (2014), Forever Comes to an End (2017), Coming Home (2018), A Storm is Coming (2019) and Everything to Everyone (2022).

Just when we were about to release Airbag co-founder, songwriter and lead guitarist Bjørn Riis fourth solo album, “Everything to Everyone”, he approached us with an idea for a new mini album. With “A Fleeting Glimpse”, Bjørn Riis has let his inspiration from Pink Floyd really come forth. Here he offers four new songs just under 30 minutes, where you can really cherry pick the Pink Floyd references throughout the listen. Riis even got Durga McBroom, one of Pink Floyd’s backup singers during the 80s and 90s, to do guest vocals on one of the tracks.

This time, the music was recorded at Double Decker Studios, Oslo (Pymlico) and Riis Studio, Oslo. It was mixed at Subsonic Studio by long-time collaborator Vegard Kleftås Sleipnes, and it was mastered by Jacob Holm-Lupo (White Willow, The Opium Cartel).

In addition to Bjørn Riis on vocals, guitars, bass and keyboards, the album features Arild Brøter (Pymlico), Øyvind Brøter (Pymlico), Per Øydir, Durga McBroom and Mimmi Tamba.

Bjørn Riis is a highly respected guitarist within the guitar community, hosting blogs and YouTube channels with an impressive following.

“I’m a huge fan of Bjørn Riis and “A Storm Is Coming” has just emphasized what a huge musical talent this man is. Six songs of loss, love and human relations that everyone can relate to make this an album that touches you on a personal level and one that is already one of the year’s outstanding releases.”
